PanCAN + Stephanie Kroll

My father, Dave Goldstein, died of pancreatic cancer in April 2002.

I have been an active volunteer for the PanCAN Houston affiliate since 2012, serving as Media Contact, PurpleStride Event Day Volunteer Check-in, PurpleStride Event Day Volunteer Co-chair, and PurpleStride Co-chair from 2021-2023.

After co-chairing PurpleStride 2023, I decided it was time to let someone else take the reins. My co-chair, Gabrielle Seekely, and I went out on a high note! See some of our accomplishments for 2023 listed below. Looking forward to being a participant in 2024!

Stephanie Kroll, PurpleStride Co-chair 2021-2023

 FUNDS RAISED DURING PURPLESTRIDE 2021-2023

  • PS Houston raised $597,757 during our three years as co-chairs, including during a Global Pandemic, Virtual PurpleStride 2021.
  • 2021 – $88,089 (+16.65% YOY)
  • 2022 - $176,902 (+100.82% YOY)
  • 2023 - $332,766 (+88.10 YOY)

I was honored to follow Lisa Niemi Swayze in the PurpleStride Houston 2021 Event Day Ceremony video! I co-chaired the (virtual) PurpleStride Houston 5K run/walk that took place May 15, 2021.

The Houston PanCAN affiliate group's Facebook page was a busy place during the event! Participants across the city and the globe (Saudi Arabia!) shared photos, videos and stories about how they were striding to raise funds for PanCAN.

Leading up to the event 2021, my co-chair (Gabrielle Seekely) and I launched a grassroots marketing campaign with $0 that included a weekly e-newsletter, daily outreach on social media, and more.

Despite the pandemic, here are some fun facts about 2021's PurpleStride compared to 2022's:
• Total Raised: $89,209 (+18%)
• # of Teams: 62 (+37.75%)
• # Participants: 415 (+52.01%)
• # of Grand Club Members: 18 (+28.57%)
• # of Fundraisers: 254 (+122.80%)

PanCAN's mission is to take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, building community, sharing knowledge, and advocating for patients.

If you're inspired, it's not too late to donate.
